The first installation in the series An intimac(it)y adapts the “Gropiuszimmer” found in the Weimar Bauhaus, dating from 1923. In the pavilion’s vitrine structure, this intimate space of thought becomes a public showroom. Parallel to the installation, we stroll with Gropius through present day Gropiusstadt (Gropius Town) in Berlin. Artist Katharina Hohmann alludes to the temporality of built ideas and materialized visions, to their irreversibility, and to the divergence between project and realization.
