Invitation A trans feat. Concha Argüeso

Concha Argüeso’s installation „Sistas“ unfolds as a landscape of books, light, and colored shadows throughout the space. It is a tribute to friendship—to that special bond that unites freedom, trust, and joy.

The heads that appear in the installation are those of the artist’s friends. Concha Argüeso shares life paths, memories, and experiences with them. From this personal connection arises art, in the words of Jorge Luis Borges (from the poem „Another Poem of Gifts“) a unique „art of friendship.“

The „Sistas,“ cut from books, also represent flexibility. They constantly change their configurations and thus their meaning. They were „Heroines“ in Berlin City Hall (2012), part of „Ars Visibilis“ in Almería (2013), „Berliners“ in the Vanguardia Gallery in Bilbao (2019) – and now return to Berlin as contemporary „Sistas.“

In the installation, colorful shadows become visible between matter and light. They appear familiar and cheerful, creating a vibrant yet mysterious space between the „Sistas“ that represents more than just the individual connection – a place of hope and transformation.

„Sistas“ invites us to perceive friendship more consciously as a creative and social force and embodies the artist’s desire to experience this exhibition herself as an act of friendship.

Concha Argüeso lives and works as an artist in Berlin, and has been friends with A TRANS since its inception 20 years ago.
