The other way round

A situation set to zero, a global reset has happened, the proverbial expulsion from paradise. How do we want to go on living? What does the so-called “new normal” mean to us? Whatever it is, it demands that we think in contradictions.

The protagonists come from different cultural spheres, they are modern nomads. A trans invites them to a look into the theme of A LOST Paradise City with regard to urbanity and public space in artistic models and practices. The possible points of reference include movement, freedom, transformation, purification, dissociation, and vulnerability. Also ideas of imperfection and transition offer an opportunity for spatial analysis.

A simple display cabinet in a normal subway station of Berlin (U-Zoologischer Garten) serves the art project space A TRANS as a platform for public discussion of the importance of contemporary art, architecture, and urbanity to this city.

The invited protagonists are: Louise Crawford & Stéphan Guéneau (Paris/Berlin), Ellinor Euler (Berlin), Kuno Matthias Ebert (Berlin), Roland Stratmann (Berlin) and Silvina Der Meguerditchian (Berlin).

Eine auf Null gestellte Situation, ein globaler Reset hat stattgefunden, die sprichwörtliche Vertreibung aus dem Paradies. Wie wollen wir weiterhin überleben. Die sogenannte neue Normalität, was stellen wir uns darunter vor. ­ Was auch immer es ist, es setzt voraus, dass wir in Widersprüchen denken.

Die Protagonist*innen stammen aus unterschiedlichen Kulturkreisen, sie sind moderne Nomaden. A trans lädt ein, sich dem Thema A LOST Paradise City bezogen auf Urbanität und Öffentlichkeit in künstlerischen Modellen und Herangehensweisen zu nähern.  Mögliche Anknüpfungspunkte sind Bewegung, Freiheit, Transformation, Reinigung, Dissoziation und Vulnerabilität. Auch Ideen der Unvollkommenheit und Transition bieten sich für die räumliche Auseinandersetzung an.

Der Projektraum A TRANS nutzt dazu eine einfache Schaufenster-Vitrine direkt am Bahnsteig Zoologischer Garten (U9).  Die Vitrine dient als öffentliche Plattform für eine offene Diskussion über den Stellenwert zeitgenössischer Kunst und Urbanität in Berlin.  Alle U-Bahn-Benutzer*innen können regelmäßig oder zufällig am (Ausstellungs)Prozess, sowie den begleitenden performativen Formaten teilhaben.
